The mind games between Gernot Rohr and Stuart Baxter ahead of the sides' quarter-final match-up on Wednesday has reached epic proportions and has heightened the anticipation of the AFCON clash.

Good evening! Welcome to the Live Updates from the Cup of Nations quarter-final between Nigeria and South Africa.

South African fans are out in force!

The rainbow nation began to grow in confidence as they piled up more pressure on the Nigerian defence.

Gueye's goal 20 minutes from time was one of the few highlights at Cairo's 30 June Stadium, with the Everton midfielder setting up the move and then finishing it after an exchange of passes with Sadio Mané, much to the relief of Africa's top-ranked team.

"I believe in the team, but I'm anxious about Thembinkosi Lorch and Percy Tau".

Moses Simon started in the big win over defending champions Cameroon in the Round of 16 and posted a decent outing before he was replace by Villarreal youngster Chukwueze, who made a bigger impact in the half an hour he was on the pitch.
