Neymar has told Paris Saint Germain he wants to leave the club, according to reports from Brazil this Monday.

The 27-year-old joined PSG from Barça in a world-record £200m transfer during the summer of 2017.

While in France they didn't expect Neymar in this week due to his status as a Brazil worldwide at the Copa America - even though he missed the tournament injured - PSG have released a statement lamenting his no show and promising disciplinary proceedings.

"I do not want to go into details over our conversation". This was without the club's prior authorisation.

Will Neymar stay at PSG?

"PSG regrets this situation and will take appropriate action".

"I do not know what will happen, but as I said, I wish the best for him", Cavani told beIN Sports.

However, despite his injury, the club have released a statement saying they expected him back on Monday but that he did not return as agreed.

Any return for Neymar would likely require Barca to raise funds through sales.

Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann reacts to a missed chance during the Champions League round of 16 first Leg encounter with Juventus in Madrid February 20, 2019. Frenkie de Jong has already signed for 75 million euros from Ajax.

That appeared to rankle with Atletico, who issued a statement that read: "On May 14, Antoine Griezmann informed [chief executive] Miguel Angel Gil, [head coach] Diego Simeone and [sporting director] Andrea Berta of his decision to leave our club at the end of the season".

He was questioned by Brazilian police last month over allegations he raped a woman he met through social media in a Paris hotel - charges he has denied.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that Neymar can leave the capital club this summer if an offer that suits all parties arrives and that Barcelona have been in vague contact.

"Players will have to assume their responsibilities even more than before", he told France Football.

He has been seen cheering the team on at the tournament, which Brazil won by beating Peru 3-1 in Sunday's final at the Maracana.
