The Rams are set to lose Frank Lampard to Chelsea, with the former England worldwide poised to be confirmed as the new man in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard guided Derby County to a Championship Playoff final last season in his first year as manager.

"I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach", Lampard, who had spent 13 years with the West London club, said in a statement. A third place Premier League finish was also something of an achievement. He played in Chelsea from 2001 to 2014.

Lampard's appointment is created to rectify that with the club keen to stress his "fantastic relationship" with the supporters.

Chelsea has had four managers in the past four years.

With Frank Lampard likely to be the next Chelsea boss, there could be a shift towards young talent. "I am not fearful of the downsides", he said.

There have been many who have welcomed the appointment, pointing out that Pep Guardiola was untried before he got the Barcelona job but, like Lampard, he understood the club.

Such is the England international's promise, Bayern Munich have seen numerous advances rebuffed by Chelsea, with the winger expected to play an integral role for Lampard next term.

And The Sun reports that Joel Lynch, released by QPR this summer, could join Premier League newcomers Sheffield United.

"After 13 years with us as a player, where he became a club legend and our record goalscorer, we believe this is the ideal time for him to return and are delighted he has done so".

Ethan Ampadu, Reece James, Tammy Abraham, Jay Dasilva, Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount have all impressed in recent times, and Frank Lampard may look to make the most of Chelsea's incredible youth system which has been massively underused in recent years.

Batshuayi could be the biggest beneficiary of the regime change with Gonzalo Higuain's return to Italy and a two-window transfer ban limiting Chelsea's striking stocks.

"I've seen the players - I worked with Mason Mount previous year and you can see their attitude, how they hold themselves and their manners".

"I want to work with those players".

His best position is in the full-back spot, but proved with Wigan he's got the versatility and maturity to slot into midfield too if needed.
