It's a West African derby in the first of two last 16 matches in Saturday's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations action.

Kalu, Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate noted that any match between Nigeria and Cameroon is always tough. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting passed to Christian Bassogog on the left flank, who crossed in to the box with Stephane Bahoken ghosting in behind an unaware Omeruo to direct the ball in to the back of the net. "Obviously Nigeria has all the quality to score goals and I think that was what went wrong, in general terms".

Nigeria (three) and Cameroon (five) boast five AFCON crowns between them, but one of Africa's respected powers will exit the running when they duel in the round of 16 on Saturday.

The Super Eagles qualified for the knockout phase after finishing as Group B runners-up following their 2-0 defeat to Madagascar.

It was the first time Cameroon had conceded in Egypt, but after scoring just twice in three group games the Indomitable Lions matched that output in three frenzied minutes before half-time.

Daniel Akpeyi will return in goal, having kept clean sheets in Nigeria's opening two matches before being replaced by Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Six minutes into the second half, Nigeria almost scored an own goal had it not been a save from their goalkeeper, Akpeyi.

Ighalo grabbed his second goal of the day after pouncing on a chested ball from Ahmed Musa in the 63 minute to beat Andre Onana. Christian Bassogog wriggled past his marker on the right and sent a ideal cross into the area, leaving Bahoken with the formality of turning the ball into the net in the 41st minute.

Ighalo few minutes later turned provider as he set up Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi who unleashed a low finish to secure Super Eagles quarter-finals berth.
