Amazon Prime Day 2019 announced for 15 July, will last two days

Like a year ago, you can expect 48 hours worth of deals on not only Amazon's own devices, such as the Amazon Echo, but also products across a range of categories, including business tech goodies. Amazon just announced that its epic summer sale would officially start just after midnight Pacific Time on Monday, July 15, and last a full 48 hours.

The featured Lightning Deals will include some of the most exciting products of the year.

Amazon has released new sales data after its 36-hour Prime Day savings event ended on Thursday.

For those who missed all the hoopla previous year, Amazon Prime Day is Amazon's global sales event that's like a Boxing Day sale on steroids.

"Get ready, as we pull back the curtain to reveal exclusive products, special performances and two full days of phenomenal deals this Prime Day", said Jeff Wilke, Amazon CEO Worldwide Consumer.

Amazon in 2015 launched its own artificial shopping holiday to commemorate the company's 20th anniversary. And to celebrate its influence in our lives, Amazon has confirmed its fifth and biggest Prime Day shopping craze that will span 48 hours of retail heaven or hell, depending on who you ask.

This year, Amazon has tied up with HDFC Bank to offer 10 percent instant discount to the bank's debit and credit card users during the Prime Day sale.

For the uninitiated, Prime Day is Amazon's take on Black Friday.

The big day (s) of deals will go down July 15 and 16.

While South Africans can subscribe to Amazon Prime, it is worth noting that not all products on Amazon are available to be delivered to South Africa. All signs point to a lot-potentially, even more than the $4.18 billion Amazon made last Prime Day. There will be a dedicated page of Prime Day deals from United States-based innovators, artisans and entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, the PCMag survey also touched on another Prime Day worry: porch pirates.

July 17 was the biggest sales day for smart home devices in Amazon's history.
