Manchester United move to agree £18m deal for second summer signing

Pogba started off his career at Manchester United before moving to Juventus on a free transfer.

Manchester United are expecting Paul Pogba to stay at Old Trafford beyond the summer, according to reports in the British media.

For a club with supposed designs on mounting a title challenge, it was a window of spectacular incompetence and United duly paid the price, sacking Jose Mourinho midway through the season and finishing sixth, after Solskjaer's honeymoon period came to an abrupt and chastening halt.

Bids have been made - and rejected - and targets talked up, but United fans who have become wearily accustomed to their club's inertia in the transfer market are suffering deja vu.

In order to avoid Pogba returning to United for pre-season, Madrid will need to act quickly.

Real Madrid have done a marvellous work in rebuilding their squad after an abject 2018-19 season.

Invited teams are selected based on the club's final league position at the end of the 2018/19 season, with the first 16 with Category One Academy status invited to take part.

"Like you said, there is a lot of talking and a lot of thinking as well", the France midfielder said.

El Confidencial say an agreement is "very far away", because of the Premier League club's reluctance to sell, and the difference in valuations should they agree to negotiate. I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.

Madrid know that it will not be easy, that the time scale set is short and that United will not let Pogba leave easily, but the Frenchman's comments have brought optimism in Madrid. They are aware that if they want to fast track the signing of Pogba, they will have to pay more than 150 million euros.
