We are not sure if the Mate X foldable phone will even ship in September as Huawei has promised - or whether it will come with Android.

In the wake of Huawei's U.S. export ban, its easy to forget that the company was due to launch one of the first folding phones to hit the market. All Galaxy Fold Pre-orders Cancelled By AT&T As Samsung Delays Release of Foldable Phone.

It's an explanation that makes sense, but it's still unusual for a company to delay the launch of their product exclusively because their competitor's product has design flaws.

Note that Samsung isn't the only brand facing such a fate since Huawei too delayed the launch of its Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone till September after some issues concerning the longevity were raised recently. It's been nearly two months since Samsung made a decision to hold off the launch.

The spokesman added that the company was being more "cautious" after Samsung's foldable device, the Galaxy Fold, began to break when tested by reviewers in April.

Huawei Mate X is bigger compared to the Galaxy Fold and has a single OLED flexible screen that folds outwards to transform it from a smartphone into an 8-inch tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Fold sports a foldable AMOLED display with a large 7.3-inch diagonally while a smaller 4.6-inch AMOLED display dominates when the phone is folded inwards. As Huawei is in the so called entity list so all the firms of the America have been unable to sell or license any technology to the firm.

However, the delay in the launch is mainly because the company was doing extra testing with mobile carriers around the world according to the spokesperson, and also developers want to make sure their apps work when the device is fully unfolded. However, it maintains this is "plan B" and says it wants to continue using Android if possible.

The Mate X was officially unveiled in February after months and months of rumors.

Yesterday, the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G edition was spotted on the database of the 3C authority of China.
