"I've got a little getting even to do", he said with a smile. Now, coming soon to Twitter, you'll get to read all my thoughts and opinions on just about everything.

Simpson confirmed the new account to The Associated Press on Saturday, saying in a phone interview while on a Las Vegas golf course that it "will be a lot of fun". "It will be one of the best accounts on Twitter to follow". He was eventually released in October 2017.

The 71-year-old then posted and pinned a video to the top of his profile, announcing his debut on the social media service.

OJ became the prime suspect in the murders and his trial gained worldwide attention.

In a separate civil trial, he was found liable in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the victims' families. Now there's a lot of fake O.J. accounts out there, so this one, @TheRealOJ32, is the only official one. Why does he have to even join Twitter - the reaction to every one of his tweets is going to be super predictable!

Meanwhile, Simpson's authentic post racked up thousands of comments, many from users who appeared to find humor in Simpson's appearance on the platform.

While a third said, "I hope that you are making some progress in identifying the real killers", to which someone else replied, "He makes progress by looking into the mirror every morning". The charges stemmed from a 2007 incident in which Simpson led a group of men into a sports memorabilia store and held a merchandiser at gunpoint.

In 2008, Simpson was convicted and sentenced to 33 years in prison, with a minimum of 9 years with parole, for armed robbery and kidnapping.
