The legendary Blues midfielder is now in charge of Derby and just missed out on promotion to the Premier League in the Championship play-off final last month.

However, Chelsea chiefs are reportedly making last-minute moves to ensure Sarri reconsiders his stand, after guiding the west London dwellers to a third-place finish in the Premier League alongside winning the Europa League.

NEWCASTLE and Chelsea fans are BOTH in despair after Rafa Benitez was linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge.

Already, Sarri's backup staffs are eager to move to Juventus to try and win the Serie A title, but Chelsea are unwilling to send his packing and cough out £5m as compensation for the remaining 24 months contract.

A bigger section of the Blues supporters are said to welcome the prospect of Lampard taking over at the helm and it remains to be seen whether the hierarchy think the same way with the 40-year-old bound to bring a feel-good factor with his presence.

Chelsea have appealed the transfer ban, and should their appeal be rejected, they will be under pressure as they won't be able to sign new players.

Chelsea could be set to endure another uncertain summer after growing tension within the club on their managerial situation.

Chelsea are said to be pondering over the idea of appointing Frank Lampard as their new head coach.

Rio Ferdinand has also recently spoken about the issue. He trained the younger kids at the club. "Frank knows Chelsea, he knows the players and the players will respect him". As quoted by The Sun, the Manchester United legend has backed former Chelsea star Frank Lampard for the job, believing he is the ideal fit. Because he and Jody they know all the kids from 16 upwards.
