Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. voluntarily surrendered himself to Manhattan police Thursday afternoon after it was alleged that he groped a woman in New York City. Heller told USA Today that he had seen the video and "did not see one scintilla of criminal culpability on the part of Cuba Gooding".

Gooding, 51, smiled and waved when he turned himself into investigators in the NYPD's special victims division.

Gooding, the Oscar-winning star of "Jerry Maguire", was expected to face a charge stemming from an alleged incident over the weekend at Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge, lawyer Mark Heller said.

Heller said Gooding Jr. will enter a plea of not guilty.

"There is no pattern of conduct", Heller said in an interview Thursday.

"I trust the system and will let the process speak for itself", Gooding said.

The woman who was allegedly groped by Cuba Gooding Jr. says she was trying to help the actor while he was very intoxicated.

The NYPD told ET that the SVU has a complaint on file regarding the allegation against Gooding, but could not confirm any further details. He said he was surprised police and prosecutors were moving forward with the case.

A spokesman for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office declined to comment.

In 2012, a New Orleans bartender accused Gooding of pushing her after she asked him to leave the establishment. The unnamed female bartender told police Gooding Jr. stopped by the Old Absinthe House in the French Quarter and soon became angry with other patrons who recognized him and wanted to take pictures with him.

Asked about the reported allegation on Monday, NYPD spokesman Detective Martin Brown said, "We don't really have anything official to say about it other than that there's been an allegation and that it is now under investigation". "That's the most important thing", he told TMZ.

TMZ also shared footage of Gooding dancing and singing at the Magic Hour on the night of the alleged incident.

Six years later, he won an Oscar for his role as a professional football player in "Jerry Maguire".
