Man United line up £50m bid for Premier League defender

And Manchester United are believed to have had a £40million bid rejected by the Eagles who value the England Under-21 worldwide at £60m.

Manchester United will have to double their record transfer outlay for a defender in order to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace after their opening bid was rejected, sources have told ESPN FC.

Wan-Bissaka is reportedly valued at a fee closer to £60million by Palace, given his importance to Roy Hodgson's side and with the full-back having three years remaining on his current contract with the club.

Although initially starting out as a squad player, the England U21 global became a regular starter for the Premier League side in the 2018-19 season, making 39 appearances in all competitions.

The 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive season with the Selhurst Park outfit in 2018/19 and he been targeted as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's summer rebuilding job at Old Trafford.

But if Palace do sell Wan-Bissaka at a huge price, Salako is hoping it teaches the club a lesson about producing their own talent more often. But don't they already have one at the club?

That man is Norwich defender Aarons, who played a key role in the Canaries' promotion-winning campaign in the recently concluded season. But, with their own promising right-back on the books in the form of Kyle Walker-Peters, it would be surprising to see Spurs move for Aarons.

The Red Devils find themselves in need of reinforcements in a number of positions, with the wide areas and the right of defence a particular concern - Diogo Dalot the only natural, long-term option available for the latter.

However, Salako believes the 21-year-old can develop better at Palace for another few seasons.
