Receiving the No. 1 overall pick in the draft will provide Griffin with much-needed ammunition as he attempts to persuade face-of-the-franchise Anthony Davis to rescind his request to be traded. He held that forced expression of happiness for several flashes.

Getty Zion Williamson's comparisons range from Charles Barkley to Blake Griffin.

The top four picks were then separated between the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans and New York Knicks. The odds should've been in the Knicks favor and they failed once again. Landing the No. 1 overall pick in June gives him another potential selling point for Davis, but the smart money says he will still want to leave New Orleans.

With Zion, however, comes hope. The 6-foot-9 Knox played 55% of his minutes at the small forward position and 44% at power forward past year, according to Basketball Reference.

New Orleans has options now, but it's still in the team's best interest to try to find a way to keep Davis. "If he was open minded to believing that we could build a victor around him, [then] he's more open minded to it". Or how about a pick-and-roll combo of Davis and Williamson?

There's a lot to digest after last night.

The Williamson sweepstakes consumed the closing months of the NBA's regular season, with multiple teams jockeying for better draft position - via worse records - for the right to draft him.

With the rest of the order based on record, the Cavaliers sit fifth.

Under rewritten lottery rules created to prevent tanking, the Knicks, Cavaliers and Suns held equal 14 percent odds to select No. 1 by virtue of having the three worst regular-season records. It didn't win them the Zion sweepstakes.

A lot of folks - including an National Basketball Association player - have declared tanking in the league is officially dead after Tuesday night's wild 2019 draft lottery. Under the previous structure, the Knicks would have had a 25-percent chance. So given the way things ended up playing out, ESPN NBA analyst Sean Farnham slapped the C's with an unfortunate lottery label. As the praise continued, however, Williamson grew visibly embarrassed.

This year's NBA Draft Lottery was a wild one. It stayed out of the top five spots and will convey to the Hawks in 2019 as the No. 10 overall pick.
