Updated: Constance Wu is going to have a job this fall, but she doesn't sound too happy about it.

In a lengthy statement posted to her Twitter page Saturday, the actress says she loves her ABC sitcom but she was "temporarily upset yesterday" because its renewal means she will have to give up another project that she feels "really passionate" about.

Describing her "FOTB" role as "fun and easy and pleasant", she admitted she was "disappointed in not being able to do that other project", which "would have challenged me as an artist" and "would have been really hard and not easy or pleasant at all".

Constance Wu's Crazy Rich Asians co-star Gemma Chan also got her name dragged into this when she reportedly "liked" a tweet criticizing Wu.

Wu's star rose considerably in 2018 with her lead role in "Crazy Rich Asians", a major hit that got her a Golden Globe nomination. But I do. I know it's weird. Wu also took the time to thank the fans, cast, and crew of Fresh Off the Boat. She recently filmed the stripper movie Hustlers with Jennifer Lopez and Cardi B. Despite Wu backtracking and now claiming she is thrilled for the show's renewal, fans are not happy with Constance Wu, and it could affect the upcoming season.

Now, Wu is responding to the backlash she has received over these negative tweets. On top of that, there are posts like the Slate article from last fall arguing that "Fresh Off The Boat Has A Jessica Problem" with the show losing sight of what made her character great.

In a new post on Twitter (responding to another user), Wu proclaimed that her renewal was "not" great news, which is not what many people would have probably expected her to say. Working on any TV show for more than five seasons seems incredibly tiring.

However, what's gone is any direct connection between her social media and Fresh Off the Boat.

She wrote: "I do regret that and it wasn't nice and I am sorry for that. I hope you hear them", Wu captioned the statement. I appreciate those who have given me the space and faith to believe what I saw about both parts of my heart.

A rep for the ABC show did not immediately return our request for comment.

"Believe women? You weren't sexually assaulted you were given a multimillion dollar contract extension", tweeted Hollywood Reporter senior writer Seth Abramovitch.
