Man City Overtake Man Utd As Most Valuable Premier League Club

The Chelsea side from the 2007/08 season were nearly the greatest side in Europe at the time, but came up just short against Manchester United in both the Premier League and Champions League. This side's problems was their number of draws - they picked up 11 throughout the season - and it proved costly.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers backed Jamie Vardy to have an impact in the Premier League title race by hurting Manchester City.

He said: "It's the toughest league I've ever played as a manager, for the quality from the rivals, no doubts".

"That's why being there [top] is incredible".

Nor is there the slightest indication in the way Liverpool and City are ending the season - they have won their combined last 16 games - that Pep Guardiola or Juergen Klopp's side are likely to drop their standards.

City won the league with 100 points last season, but before this campaign Liverpool's highest points-haul was 86, when they were runners-up in 2009. It's sad that one team has to finish second, but that's football - you can only have one victor.

"Being here, we have to win to get more credit". It's not easy, honestly, and they did it again. I would not say that 100 points [of last year] was bad and that we are not satisfied.

He remains the only player to have scored a hat-trick against a Guardiola-managed side in a 4-2 humiliation of City at the King Power Stadium in December 2016. One is the Barcelona of Luis Enrique with Neymar, Messi and Suarez in front.

Rodgers came closer to ending that drought than any other Liverpool boss over the past three decades as his side fell just two points short of City in 2013/14. I think they're the best two sides I've faced.

That would leave Liverpool trailing by a point heading into Sunday's final day, when they host Wolves and Manchester City make the trip to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Andy Robertson believes Liverpool have produce the flawless game if they are to turn around their Champions League semi-final tie against Barcelona.

Rodgers transfer record was as mixed as his seasons and we have a definitive ranking of his 32 signings at Anfield. Since the shattering blow of Champions League elimination last month they have come through some stern tests against Tottenham, Manchester United and Burnley. "That's why being there, with it in our hands, fighting against them until the end, being seven points behind [at one stage] and after [winning the title with] 100 points".

"It shows us where we are. we're not living in fantasy land thinking we can catch the top two, we're far away but we shouldn't be speaking about being far off the top four at Manchester United", The Norweigan told the press yesterday.
