Liverpool: Late heroics from Origi and Shaqiri 'like a fairy tale' - Klopp

An 86th minute goal from Liverpool substitute Divock Origi gave Jurgen Klopp's side a dramatic 3-2 win away to Newcastle United on Saturday night to keep their title hopes alive in another dramatic Premier League weekend.

"Today was a battle of will but it was a victory of passion, heart and absolute desire - absolutely brilliant", Klopp said. We accept that of course.

However, City remains the favorite.

Liverpool's reign at the top of the pile could last only until Monday, as Manchester City play their game-in-hand against Leicester on Monday. It can retain the title by winning its last two matches.

Mohamed Salah was stretchered off with a head injury after a collision with Martin Dubravka in the second half of the Premier League clash between Newcastle and Liverpool.

"When he came in he was sitting in the dressing room watching the game on television".

However, substitute Divock Origi's 86th-minute victor secured a 3-2 victory for the visitors and ensured the title will be decided next Sunday, when Rafael Benitez's men head for Craven Cottage as City and a relieved Liverpool fight for the main prize.

Christian Atsu scored in the 20th minute to cancel out Virgil van Dijk's early opener for Liverpool.

However, Salah would have his bright moment in the match just eight minutes after that goal, as he finished off a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold to put Liverpool back in front.

The Dutch centre-back was once again key in a Liverpool victory as they beat Newcastle United 3-2 on Sunday.

"It is very painful to play with two players less than the opponent", Pochettino said.

While some reports claim that he is likely to remain with the club as he is planning to sign a new contract, others though, are more fearful of the fact that Benitez has already made up his mind to head for greener pastures.

"We are fighting (five) teams, it is impossible for all six to get the top four, whatever happens I will feel proud and whatever happens in the (Champions League) semi-final I will be proud".

Liverpool is seeking its first top-flight title since 1990, and 19th in total.

Sarri confessed he should have rested France global Kante after he completed the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw away at Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final last Thursday.
