Cahill joins Antonio Rudiger on the injury list, with the German centre-back sidelined for three months with knee surgery.

"So it will be hard to get to the final", Sarri told a press conference on Wednesday. So we are in trouble with the centre backs.

Antonio Rudiger's season-ending knee injury means Andreas Christensen starts at the heart of the defence, along with David Luiz, while Marcos Alonso makes way for Emerson Palmieri at left-back, with Cesar Azpilicueta completing the backline. For the last two trainings we played with Azpilicueta at centre back. We've played 58 matches this season and, in the past, we've been lucky with injuries. "He's upset of course but is very strong and I'm sure he will come back stronger".

"Christensen has played about 25 matches during the season so he is ready".

"He's played very important matches very well so he isn't the problem. The problem is the numbers".

Both Manchester United and Chelsea FC will be likely to be keen to make some major additions this summer after inconsistent seasons in the Premier League.

Chelsea's Italian boss revealed Rudiger actually tore his meniscus in the Blues' 2-0 Premier League loss at Liverpool on 14 April.

United fans have pretty much given up on qualifying for next season's edition of the Champions League due to their team's frightful form. "I hope he will be very fresh mentally and physically".

'It will do, yes they might have worked a few days on how to stop him, they might not, but Hazard, one of the best players in the world. not playing against that, you've got to be happy about that.

They are also missing attacking starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi, who was tipped for a move to Germany and Bayern Munich in January but also went under the knife after rupturing his Achilles.
