Air India expects operations to get fully normal by tonight

Air India's flights across the world, including India, have been affected since early Saturday morning after the problem occurred in airline's main server.

On June 23 a year ago, a technical glitch in the airline's check-in software was reported delaying 25 of its flights across India. According to ANI reports, Air India flights are affected as airline's SITA server is down all over India & overseas since 3:30 am.

The effects of the technical snag were felt particularly at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport where the number of stranded passengers reportedly crossed a hundred, reported News18.

On June 23, 2018, Air India faced a similar technical glitch in the check-in software leading to a delay of 25 flights across India.

"We have now fully restored services at all airports where Air India were affected".

Air India's chairman and managing director Ashwani Lohani told ANIthat the system was restored but warned of further delays during the day.


In response, SITA said that it experienced a complex system issue during server maintenance, which resulted in the operational disruptions. Operations of all these flights have been affected due to the techincal glitch. "Our priority remains, as always, to ensure a stable system where customers can conduct business efficiently and effectively, and we are undertaking a full investigation to understand the root cause and prevent a recurrence", it said in a statement to PTI.

"Operations are getting normal".

The glitch was restored at around 9 am. "Work is on in full swing to restore the system". Lohani said the passenger services system run by SITA was taken down for maintenance between 3.30 am and 4.30 am. "Inconvenience is deeply regretted".

About affected passengers, the CMD said that the airline is trying its best to inform them through social media and its call centre.

Air India held a press conference around 11:30 am today and provided more details on the matter.
