In the grand scheme of things, though, that shouldn't ruffle too many feathers or really disappoint anyone - particularly because we're sort of lucky to have heard anything about Bond 25 at all since the film has hit numerous speed-bumps and potholes on the road to production, changing directors, writers, and release dates several times.

During a Bond 25 livestream, the main cast and primary locations for the upcoming James Bond film were confirmed.

Bond 25 still doesn't have an official title, meaning there's still hope that it will be a stealth Paddington movie.

Rami Malek will be joining the cast as the villain. Rami Malek was also confirmed as the new villain - in a video message sent from NY, the Oscar-winning actor said: "I promise you all, I will be making sure Mr Bond will not have an easy ride of it".

Malek, 37, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, has been cast with Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch and Game Night actor Billy Magnussen for the untitled release.

Producer Barbara Broccoli spoke about the film's plot, saying: "Well, Bond is not on active service when we start the film".

Jeffrey Wright will also be returning as the Central Intelligence Agency operative who last helped 007 in Quantum of Solace and Moneypenny will be played by Naomie Harris. A mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist quickly unravels and leads Bond on a trail to a mysterious villain armed with unsafe new technology.

The film will be released internationally by Universal and in the U.S. by MGM/Annapurna in April 2020.

She said they considered Jamaica to be Bond's "spiritual home", and added: "We start his journey here".

That was it, and I'm sure we can all agree it was well worth our news editor getting out of bed at 5am for: you can relive all twenty minutes of the magic right here on YouTube. Daniel Craig was visibly surprised after Malek's message.

After shooting in Jamaica, Bond 25 (whatever the heck it's going to be called) will be continuing production at its traditional home of Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom, before shooting further on location in London, Italy, and Norway.

Back in February, Malek addressed rumors that he was to play the villain in the highly anticipated spy sequel, though his role in the movie has yet to be confirmed.

James Bond is the longest running, and one of the most successful franchises of all time, with twenty-four films produced and the twenty-fifth about to commence principal photography.

Even with Wade and Purvis' new script, both Scott Z. Burns (Contagion) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Killing Eve) were brought in to do rewrites.

She has also starred in 2016's War Dogs and 2015 movie Knock Knock.
