Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne is substituted off after sustaining an injury during the match against Tottenham Hotspur as Phil Foden looks on at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, April 20, 2019.

But against Spurs in the Premier League three days later, he appeared to strain his left knee once again while taking a shot just before half-time.

Foden headed in the only goal of the game from six yards out in the 5th minute of play, a goal that is his first in the Premier League.

"He said he will give me opportunities when the lads are a bit exhausted, " Foden said.

"It just felt it's everything I have been working for since a kid, " Foden said. "I have to speak with the doctor, so I am not sure, but my feeling is it is nothing serious".

North London giants Arsenal have put themselves in a fantastic position to qualify for the Champions League next season. "Tomorrow we will know". Thanks also to the video assistant referee who scrubbed off City's fifth goal in stoppage time - when the home fans were already celebrating - because Sergio Agüero was offside before setting up Raheem Sterling.

Now the ball is back in Liverpool's court before City's game in hand against their old rivals United. "Let's first play these games and then let's prepare Barcelona".

Tottenham, by comparison, knocked out Borussia Dortmund and Man City to keep their European hopes alive.

"In my head we were eliminated... then one of the staff members entered the dressing room and told me: 'Incredible, we did it!'"

"Especially after 100 points, with the best Liverpool ever, one of the best sides I ever played (against) and every three days being there, being there, being there - it is remarkable".

Eredivisie has cancelled the Ajax, as well as the Dutch league fixtures to accommodate Champions League clash.

After Sterling's goal seemed to send Spurs crashing out at the quarter-finals stage, Pochettino relived the agonising moments in which he felt that his side's Champions League dream had ended in heart-breaking fashion.

Despite being third they have lost 12 games, but with three of their four remaining games at their new stadium, Mauricio Pochettino says his side are in charge of their own top-four destiny.

He has only been stopped in finals, against Sevilla in the Europa League in 2016 and Real Madrid in last season's Champions League.

"We need to fight all together as a team, and enjoy the game".

"We know the circumstances and it will be very tough but I feel very proud".

"A very good end for us but I feel sorry when that situation happens because you can be on the other side and it is hard when that situation happens". I didn't spend one second to think about the match at Old Trafford. "I am very happy because it is not easy when you are not playing normally". For most of the season Brighton haven't even been considered candidates for the drop, but a calamitous run of results at the wrong time have dropped them right in a stinking mess.
