The 13-year-old boy drowned in a drainage area in West Monroe late Saturday afternoon, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office said.

The system was blamed for three deaths, two in Texas and one in Hamilton, Mississippi, an area about 45 miles northeast of the campus of Mississippi State University. Heavy rain may also lead to localized flash flooding in areas prone to flooding.

The MSU Crisis Action Team is investigating reports of damage and evaluating the situation. No injuries have been reported, but officials said several businesses and vehicles were damaged.

The severe weather threat Saturday and Sunday placed almost 100 million Americans at risk of unsafe storms, tornadoes, hail and severe wind gusts, CNN Meteorologist Haley Brink said.

Authorities in East Texas say two children were killed after a tree fell on a vehicle as it was being driven during a strong storm. They were in the back seat with their parents in the front, said Angelina County Sheriff's Department Capt. Alton Lenderman.

Robertson County Sheriff Gerald Yezak told The Associated Press a tornado hit the small Central Texas city of Franklin, overturning mobile homes and damaging other residences.

Franklin, Texas, roughly 125 miles south of Dallas, was nearly entirely flattened by a tornado, according to the Robertson County Sheriff's Office.

Franklin, Texas, was the victim of a large preliminary EF-3 tornado which caused winds of 140mph to devastate the town, causing significant damage. Two people were hospitalized for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, while others were treated at the scene, Yezak said.

Multiple injuries were also reported in the town of Franklin, Texas where a large preliminary EF-3 tornado with winds of 140 miles per hour moved through the town on Saturday. Some people had to be extricated from their homes.

Separately, one person died in a auto submerged in floodwaters in Calhoun, Louisiana. There is still a potential for storms to be severe but not everyone will see rain or storms today. There is pretty good agreement from all computer models for the line of storms to weaken as it moves east.
