Huawei’s new laptops can pair with a phone with one tap

Huawei rates this screen for 450 nits of brightness, while the previous model hit 458 nits in our testing. Still a touch panel, though, and bezels are impressively thin. The problem, however, was that the MateBook 13 was equipped with newer and faster processors to outperform even the pricier MateBook X Pro.

The Matebook 14 is brand new, so we have to go through all the basics with you. The device also supports Dolby Atmos 10 that promises to deliver an immersive cinematic audio experience and also supports Amazon Alexa and Microsoft Cortana - two smart voice assistants.

Every aspect of the new MateBook X Pro has been upgraded over last year's model, which itself now sits top of T3's prestigious best lightweight laptop guide and won the much sort after Innovation Award at MWC 2018, with the ultraportable featuring an upgraded processor, beefed up Nvidia-designed graphics card, and a new "Borderless Experience" screen.

The technology comes from OneHop, part of the Chinese firm's Huawei Share 3.0 software. The Share technology also comes with a PC screen-recording feature activated by shaking your Huawei device. Compared to that outgoing model, the MateBook 14 has a tighter design. These machines are upper-midrange devices meant to slot in between the X Pro and the D/E ranges. Much like the X Pro, the MateBook 14's screen will offer a 3:2 aspect ratio that's more about productivity than it is watching ultrawide movies. The narrow bezels allow the small body of the device to accommodate a larger display, resulting in a class-leading screen-to-body ratio of 90 per cent.

The 3.28-pound, 0.63-inch thick MateBook 14 is heavier and slightly thicker than the 2.93-pound, 0.57-inch-thick MateBook X Pro. We can expect the price of this laptop to be considerably lesser than the Matebook X Pro.

On its sides, Huawei switched up its connectivity a bit by installing two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and one HDMI.

Another revelations from the reported P30 hands-on: Since this prototype doesn't have a 3.5mm plug, any dream of Huawei reviving the headphone jack in the P30 after axing it with the P20 line seems kaput.

It also enable users to record their laptop screen on their phone just by shaking the phone and tapping the PC share icon that appears on the screen.
