Mueller Finally Finished His Report

"The White House has not received or been briefed on the Special Counsel's report".

The report was delivered, as is required, by Mr Mueller to the United States department of justice following an investigation that lasted 674 days. Longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone was charged in January with obstruction, false statements and witness tampering. Stone is accused of telling members of Trump's campaign that he knew in advance of plans by the WikiLeaks website to release emails damaging to Clinton that were stolen by Russian Federation.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen.

Congressional Democrats and Democratic presidential candidates issued a flurry of statements Friday demanding that Barr make Mueller's full report public. "The American people have a right to the truth".

However, sources say the language used in the responses will be essentially what has been heard from the White House over the course of the investigation - that there was "no collusion" and that the investigation was a "witch hunt".

Multiple news outlets reported at 5 p.m. ET that the report had been delivered.

"We're pleased that the Office of Special Counsel has delivered its report to the Attorney General pursuant to the regulations".

Justice Department regulations governing special counsels adopted in 1999 give Barr, the top US law enforcement official, broad discretion in deciding how much to release to Congress and the public.

Even if Mueller's final report does not implicate the president in criminal conduct, the investigation was far from fruitless.

That's according to a Justice Department official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the person wasn't authorized to speak publicly about the confidential recommendation.

Barr wrote in his letter that Justice Department leaders never told the special counsel throughout the investigation a proposed action should not be pursued. "I'm also not rooting for Mr. Mueller to "clear" the president". So when are we going to learn what Mueller found out?

The almost two-year probe has shadowed Trump's presidency and resulted in felony charges against 34 people including six people who served on Trump's campaign.

Trump and his allies have spent almost two years trying to discredit Mueller.

The special counsel brought a sweeping indictment accusing Russian military intelligence officers of hacking Democrat Hillary Clinton's campaign and other Democratic groups during the 2016 election.

The Trump 2020 campaign, along with the Republican National Committee, was also preparing aggressive responses.

Former FBI Director James Comey said Friday that he hopes that President Donald Trump won't be "impeached and removed from office before the end of his term".

Cohen, the president's former lawyer, pleaded guilty in NY to campaign finance violations arising from the hush money payments and in the Mueller probe to lying to Congress about a Moscow real estate deal.
