Celtics disappointed in Marcus Smart following spat with Joel Embiid

An enraged Embiid got up and went after Smart. "Obviously, I was frustrated because it was a cheap shot". "I've been hearing these guys can guard me better than anyone else".

"Stuff like that, it gets me going, it gets the crowd going", Embiid said.

That's a shame because this is one of the few rivalries in the National Basketball Association where guys really talk some trash (more on this in #10).

This is not the first time that the Celtics have dealt with a Smart blow-up this season, of course, as the fifth-year Celtic was also booted from a January 19 meeting with the Hawks. "We feel like we can beat anybody in this league".

With Smart out for the final 25 minutes of Wednesday's game, the Sixers outscored the Celtics 60-46, and it really wasn't until Jimmy Butler's fourth-quarter beast mode that the Celtics really missed having a defender as tenacious as Smart.

"I actually thought we had started to get sort of a little bit of a rhythm and then momentum a little bit towards the end of the second quarter, and felt that too at the beginning of the third", JJ Redick said. "I didn't see it coming".

After a brief review, Smart was understandably given a flagrant-two foul and ejected from the game, while Embiid received a technical foul.
