Juventus to offer Alexis Sanchez escape route from Manchester United?

Losses to Arsenal in the Premier League and Wolves in the FA Cup in their last two games have put a dampener on his impressive start in the role, however.

Sanchez has been the highest paid player on the Manchester United wage bill since he joined the club in January a year ago, but his performances have not matched up to his billing.

Solskjaer led United on a run of 14 wins from 17 games in all competitions after taking over from Jose Mourinho in December.

United hope Lukaku will be able to return for their Premier League games against Watford and Wolves after the worldwide break before Barcelona come to Old Trafford in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

And Pogba, who has been in spectacular form under Solskjaer after clashing with former boss Mourinho, is keen for the caretaker manager to be rewarded with a permanent contract.

"When a player is happy, he wants to keep being happy". But he believes everyone at the club wants Solskjaer to stay beyond the end of this season.

He said: "I am sure he (Solskjaer) will turn this situation around and we will do better. I play there now but we'll see what will happen in the future".

"We [Man United] have to give our best now to reach the top four".

This, though, was a performance that rolled back the months to the Mourinho era and was arguably worse than some of the displays turned in under the Portuguese.

"This was the poorest we've played", Solskjaer told BBC Sport.

"We can not let it go like this, we will analyse everything as there is still a lot to play for".

Sanchez has failed to impress since arriving at Old Trafford from Arsenal back in January of past year, managing just three goals in 29 Premier League appearances.
