Don't think, however, that it's coming standard with the new AirPods, you'll have to pay $199 to get the combo. The new processor promises 50 percent more talk time, and can switch from device to device up to twice as fast as the previous generation.

AirPods have constantly been rated as the world's most popular wireless earbuds. They will land in Apple Stores starting next week.

Even if you have the original AirPods, you can still buy the case separately for $79 (£79/AU$129) and enjoy the benefits of wireless charging.

Connectivity has always been a bit of a sticking point when it comes to true wireless earbuds, but the Apple AirPods have a reputation for seamless pairing - as long as you're using an iPhone, of course. With AirPods 2019 you still get 5 hours of listening time just like before. Instead, that is an optional accessory which costs extra.

The new products are available for order today, with free engraving available online. Now, you don't need to reach for your iPhone to adjust the volume or tap on the side of one AirPod to activate the digital assistant.

The new AirPods are compatible with Siri. A version with a standard case charged by a Lightning cable is $159. We're sure bigger changes will come to the AirPods eventually, but these are more like AirPods 1.5 rather than AirPods 2.

Love them or hate them, Apple's AirPods have sold well for the company and the second generation improves on most of the basic issues with the first generation.

Not only that, but just a 15-minute charge will result in up to three hours of listening time (two hours of talk time).

What just happened? After months of rumors and a report claiming they could launch in March, Apple has finally unveiled its second-generation AirPods.

The wireless case is available as an option with your AirPods purchase, or as a standalone product.
