Lakers Shutting Down Lonzo Ball For The Season

Brandon Ingram is expected to miss the rest of the season after tests revealed a Deep Venous Thrombosis in his shoulder.

After ending a year ago on a high note, Ingram returned to the South Bay Lakers, the G League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers, where he is averaging 8.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

Ball will end his sophomore season playing just 47 games, which is five games less than what he played during his injury-riddled rookie season.

Earlier in the week, coach Walton told the press that Ingram was dealing with pain every time he raised his right arm. Ingram and McGee have both increased their average points per game by over two points.

Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 0-5 ATS in their last five road games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall.

He added: "Obviously, I would love for the team to be in the postseason. But it is where we are at right now as a group and it is our job to continue to come out and give everything we can to get better to win what games we do have left", Walton said. Ingram will also sit out the rest of the year because of a blood clot, which only makes the Lakers situation that much bleaker. "But, if we're having a game again where ... we need someone to knock down [shots] and space that floor, then we feel confident he can do that". And Josh Hart continues to play despite a knee injury that has been ailing him for a few months.

"Why me? You know, how do you tackle this?"

Following that roughly week-long saga, Magic felt it was necessary to reunite the players under the common goal of making the playoffs with more of a nurturing approach, only to backtrack on those comments in a more defensive stance with a lack of sympathy for the players he essentially dragged through the mud.

The Lakers are 15-8 with James, Ball and Ingram all in their lineup, but they've largely struggled whenever one of the trio is out. The trio has not been on the court together since Christmas Day.

Bulls: Boylen expects Zach LaVine, who missed his second straight game, to return this season.
