LeBron James moved past Michael Jordan into fourth place on the NBA's career scoring list Wednesday night.

Sitting courtside with his family including his son, 2 Chainz was ecstatic to watch the magic happen but it's what he did afterward that's got people talking.

"You guys have no idea what MJ did for me and my friends growing up", James told reporters after the game.

The Lakers gave props to LeBron on the big board. With the basket LeBron James passes Michael Jordan for fourth all time National Basketball Association scoring.

"You've got to appreciate him", Harris said of James.

James, the top scorer among active players, made his points in 1,190 games compared to 1,072 for Jordan.

After James barreled to the basket and hit a layup while being fouled for his milestone points, the Staples Center crowd gave a rousing ovation to the superstar who joined the Lakers last summer after 15 National Basketball Association seasons spent with Cleveland and Miami.

To be fair to LeBron, he recently became the only player in National Basketball Association history to reach the all-time top 10 in both points and assists. I wanted kids to look up to me at some point like M.J., and it's insane, to be honest.

In order to crack the league's all-time scoring podium, the 34-year-old will have to supplant a Lakers icon.

"I knew coming into this year that it would be different", James said after the Lakers' loss to the rival Clippers on Monday night.

With 32,311 points, James now trails only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928) and Kobe Bryant (33,643).
