The original plan for the visit didn't include fast food, or any food for that matter.

U.S President Donald Trump presents fast food to be served to the Clemson Tigers football team to celebrate their Championship at the White House on January 14, 2019 in Washington, DC.

Trump served a similar spread that included hundreds of hamburgers to the college football champion Clemson Tigers in January, citing the government shutdown that was underway. Lawrence said at the time, "It was awesome!" The team was invited to Washington by North Dakota Sen. We had McDonald's and everything.

Trump told the North Dakota State players that he could have had the White House chef prepare food for them, but instead opted for a thematic repeat of the menu he offered Clemson during the partial government shutdown.

Liberals no doubt are noting the anti-LGBT significance of serving Chick-fil-A, a privately-held company whose owners have donated millions to anti-LGBT organizations, including to at least one hate group. They were probably happy to get to eat a little earlier than expected.

The North Dakota State University Bison football team were recognized for winning the NCAA FCS championship in 2018.

It was their second championship in a row and seventh in eight years in the division that used to be known as "Division I-AA".

"We sold it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we're taking", Entz said before the trip.
