Rodgers lost his first game in charge of Leicester on Sunday, thanks to a last-gasp Watford goal from Andre Gray.

A Jamie Vardy strike had drawn Leicester level after the interval, after Troy Deeney had given the hosts an early lead in the first half.

Former Liverpool manager Rodgers, who won two league titles, three Scottish League Cups and two Scottish Cups with Celtic, said he was not hurt by the reaction of the fans.

Rodgers took charge of his first game for the Foxes after he watched the win over Brighton and Hove Albion from stands on Tuesday evening.

"I have a good idea from training with them and watching them what I think we need to do in the summer, but for me it is a case of coming in and working with the players we have", he told a media conference.

It was no real surprise to see him take the job with the lure of the Premier League, we saw that when Virgil van Dijk left the champions - a club the size of Celtic - to join Southampton.

Under Frenchman Puel, Leicester blended a counter-attacking approach with a fluid possession game but have struggled with inconsistency this season to sit 11th in the table with 35 points from 28 matches. It is something that will get better as we work together.

"It would be great to have that opportunity going into the last couple of games. And the experience I've gained has allowed me not to get too affected by words", he said. "There were a lot of good signs".

"I didn't hear so much, to be honest", the former Celtic manager added.

"Daniel was under pressure when we went there but he has turned it around and the one thing I do know is if you win games the fans down there will get behind you".
