Lyon vs Barca: Suárez keen to end unwanted record

FC Barcelona are set to take on Lyon, squaring off in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at Lyon Olympic Stadium on Tuesday at 3:00p.m. ET.

The Uruguayan is the second top scorer in Spain with 15 Liga goals but has not found the net in a Champions League away game since a 1-1 draw at AS Roma in September 2015, firing blanks in 16 consecutive foreign trips. In the league, MESSI has 22 goals in 22 matches this season.

They have looked on enviously as Real Madrid have won the last three editions of the big eared trophy, swelling their total number of European Cups to 13, which makes Barca's five look measly by comparison.

At this point, Ernesto Valverde might as well try Kevin-Prince Boateng in his place because he has experience at this level.

"I do not have much more to say, we'll see on Tuesday". "It would worry me if he wasn't getting chances, which is what you ask for from a centre-forward".

"They are two teams who have the same way of playing - they like to have possession of the ball, and they like to attack", said Lyon coach Bruno Genesio, whose team also beat Paris Saint-Germain at home in Ligue 1 recently. Opponents are frightened of him. "The important thing is to have chances".

The second half was lacking in intensity, as opportunities became more infrequent and Barca had to be content with returning to Camp Nou for the second leg on March 14 without an away goal.

A knee problem has caused Umtiti to play only once in nearly five months but the defender resumed training at the end of January and has been included in Barca's squad for the trip to Lyon on Tuesday.

Lyon's influential playmaker Nabil Fekir will miss the game through suspension and Valverde admits that is a boost to Barca's chances.

"The experience can help us - we played really well in the two games against City, and if we were capable of doing it against them, we can do it again", he added.
