Having seen their team win ten from 11 games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, supporters are viewing this game with genuine optimism.

Some bad news for Manchester United ahead of the match is that PSG's defence seem stronger whenever Neymar is not playing.

"They were talking about bigger names and more experienced coaches, but I don't think anybody could have come in and done any better". - Since the start of the 2016-17 season, only Cristiano Ronaldo (16 goals) has scored more goals in Champions League knockout matches than PSG's Kylian Mbappe (seven).

The 20-year-old is likely to be the Ligue 1 outfit's go-to-guy in attack at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, with Neymar and Cavani sidelined with respective foot and hip injuries. "There are smiles back on everyone's faces, not just on the pitch but at Carrington and Old Trafford, so he himself has brought that back".

Lifting the European Cup, just as Solskjaer did as a player with United in 1999, would make it hard for the club not to hand the job to the Norwegian on a permanent basis.

"At first they frightened me because of how loud they were but after I had realised what was going on and what they were doing it was quite fun to watch". With Alexis Sanchez dropping too deep and Juan Mata unable to add the pacey edge on the right, United seemingly had no outlet and the French champions made the most of their chance to gain some superiority.

"I was watching with Noah and we said "wow, that's a tough challenge", said Solskjaer on Monday.

"The forward players at the club are immensely talented and if you give them a bit of a free rein and a bit of organisation they'll score goals and win you games".

David de Gea was tested for the first time in the 53rd minute, diving low to his left to push away Mbappe's header, but PSG opened the scoring from the resulting corner.

Manchester United drew the first leg at Sevilla 0-0 but were beaten 2-1 in the home second leg in the Champions League round of 16 under Mourinho last season.
