South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg Endorses Green New Deal

Since initial backers hailed the introduction of the historic resolution as a huge accomplishment on Thursday, a growing number of labor, economic justice, racial justice, indigenous, environmental, and community organizations have lined up behind the bold proposal and vowed to pressure lawmakers to pass it.

The ad targeting Delgado informs viewers, "Antonio Delgado and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have begun their radical Green New Deal assault on the American economy".

He said Ocasio-Cortez does not support some of the more outlandish left-wing proposals, which were saved before they were taken off her website. According to a recent December 2018 public opinion poll conducted by the Yale Program on Climate Communication and the George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication, 80% of registered voters surveyed support a Green New Deal, including 92% of Democrats and 64% of Republicans. Robert Hockett, an advisor to Ocasio-Cortez, even went on Tucker Carlson to further push the lie that the document claiming the Green New Deal would pay people who are "unwilling" to work was not from her team. Global warming is a threat to the planet.

Delgado was a vocal supporter of a Green New Deal during his 2018 campaign, although he's yet to sign onto the deal since taking office.

Calling climate change "a national emergency", Buttigieg said the concept matched "a sense of urgency about that problem of climate change with a sense of opportunity around what the solutions might represent".

Organizers have praised Ocasio-Cortez and Markey for putting forth the Green New Deal resolution, but they also continue to emphasize that, in the words of Dream Corps president Vien Truong, "we need immediate action and bold leadership".
