They put us under pressure in the first 10 minutes but after we scored I thought we were excellent.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have all returned to form after struggling earlier in the season, with the 45-year-old now having been tipped by many to take the job on a permanent basis.

The game would end 3-0 to United, a result which seems them leapfrop Chelsea into fourth place in the table, with Solskjaer making it a record-breaking 25 points from his first nine games with United, more than any other boss in their first nine games in charge of a team in the Premier League.

'To win the league you need to win the games like we did in the last seven, eight games, ' said Matic, a two-time Premier League victor with Chelsea.

Solskjaer rotated his squad ahead of Paris Saint-Germain's visit to Old Trafford on Tuesday but the gamble paid off after a brace from Paul Pogba and a fine solo goal from Anthony Martial helped United to a comfortable win.

"We are in a risky situation [in the league] and I told my players that it's important to show to our fans we are alive and try to do our best until the end".

Solskjaer's Reds head into those games unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions, with the Norwegian reaping the rewards of his good mood behind the scenes as well as in front of the cameras. "We've done really well in the 11 games we've played, but that's down to the team effort", he said.

Claudio Ranieri says Ryan Sessegnon is simply not playing well enough to start games at the moment - and is still adapting in his first venture into Premier League football.

'But he's the same - always positive.

Pogba was so brilliant during the 3-0 win that somebody compiling his individual highlights was simply inevitable and YouTube user "RedDevilsTV" stepped up to the plate on Saturday evening. "When you play against champions you have to stay calm and not lose your composure - that is the real problem". And finally, it was Pogba (2 goals), who eased United's transition in the final third with some excellent passing and hold-up play in and around the half-spaces.

"We started very well", he said. "I told my players that it's important to show our fans we're alive, we try to do our best until the end".
