Toronto is acquiring Grizzlies center Marc Gasol in the first blockbuster of trade deadline day, ESPN.com reports.

Gasol also has a $25.6 million player option for next season.

Memphis traded Gasol to the Raptors on Thursday.

A fan favourite in Toronto, Valanciunas showed flashes of promise with the Raptors but never fully materialized into a dominant centre.

Another wild National Basketball Association trade deadline came and went on Thursday afternoon, with the Raptors acquiring star centre Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies and bidding farewell to four regulars in the process.

"I've been in rumours so many times I don't even look at it", Valanciunas said.

Toronto finalized a deal with Memphis to pick up the three-time All-Star, the team announced Thursday. The 76ers and Bucks have also made major moves as the trade deadline nears, with the Sixers landing Tobias Harris and Milwaukee getting Nikola Mirotic. "I love Toronto and I want to stay here". "He was a part of a core group of players that helped shape the identity of this franchise on and off the court and were embraced by the City of Memphis", Pera said in a statement.

The other goal in these moves is to play well enough over the season's final 26 games to convey this year's first round pick, a top 8 protected pick, to Boston and get a clean slate.

Jonas Valanciunas had been sidelined since December 12 (Dec. 13, PHL time) with a dislocated left thumb. 14-year veteran CJ Miles has come on strong as of late and is averaging 5.5 points through 40 games this season.

Valanciunas, Wright and Miles can become free agents next season.
