Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift to skip the Grammys

Ariana Grande will no longer be in attendance at the 2019 Grammys.

Grande reportedly wanted to perform her latest single, "7 Rings", but an insider told Variety they initially balked at that.

With album Thank U, Next set to drop just two days after the show, a performance in front of millions could have been a nice way to advertise her new music.

Variety reports Ariana Grande will not be attending the Grammys.

According to Variety, the singer chose to back out of performing at the event after producers argued with her over which songs she would be able to perform. Things quickly fell apart all over again when organisers are said to have asked for full control over her second song choice. The song is the second track from her new album "thank u, next" expected to be released February 8 before the awards show. While it's not been confirmed, it's thought that the singer may instead attend the BAFTA Awards in London, which are also taking place on Sunday night, to support her boyfriend, The Favourite star Joe Alwyn. Last year, the Recording Academy declined to let Lorde perform a particular song of her choosing, which didn't bode well for her participation.

The pop star has been nominated for two awards at the Grammys.

A source close to the situation stated that these preconditions weren't enforced on any of the other performers - like Cardi B, Shawn Mendes and Miley Cyrus.

The Grammy Awards will air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
