On March 8th, we're getting the big screen debut of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, an Air Force fighter pilot who vanishes from Earth and winds up being inducted into the alien race, The Kree, and becoming a member of Starforce, an elite, Special Forces-type group of Kree warriors.

Jude Law's mentor character Mar-Vell also doles out tough love to Danvers in fight training. If you saw Avengers: "Infinity War - and if you didn't, why are you still reading this? - you know that in 2018, Nick Fury (Jackson) sent out some sort of intergalactic distress call to Captain Marvel (Larson) before he succumbed to Thanos" finger snap and collapsed into a pile of very pissed-off dust. Lee Pace's baddie is set to make a return, before his days of taking on the heroes in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

Captain Marvel opens in theatres on March 8, 2019. And with some of the original Avengers expected to bow out in the near future and a history with Nick Fury, it seems likely she could be drafted in to Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the future. Now, new footage from the upcoming Captain Marvel is teasing the origin of that idea - and exploring how Fury's friendship with Captain Marvel helped spark the entire Avengers initiative.

Marvel Studios released a new look at Captain Marvel last night and with the fresh footage came the first spoken from Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson. Captain Marvel will feature the first appearance of the Skrulls, and it's set in the 90s.

Brie also shared a new poster for the film on Instagram.

"She's pretty much the strongest character - in terms of someone with powers are able to do things - in the Marvel universe". "And a lot of the people I talked to just said, 'I've never felt like that watching a movie before in my entire life". I remember walking out of Thor: The Dark World feeling like I'd spent my entertainment dollar wisely, but I couldn't tell you what happened in it. During a visit to the set of the movie previous year, Captain Marvel executive producer Jonathan Schwartz told ComicBook.com that the film might include some fun tidbits for fans of ABC's Agents of SHIELD.
