Yesterday in 10 minutes we had three injuries, Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek and [Danny] Drinkwater. It will be important that the Blues have an available second striker for the rest of the campaign and this is an option which should seriously be considered should Giroud's injury prove to be serious.

Hudson-Odoi could return for Chelsea's next game, against Southampton, but Pedro will still be sidelined and Giroud looks highly unlikely to be involved in that game.

'In the last few days we were a but unlucky.

"So we are in trouble, because we have to play every three days". Fabregas has a neck problem. Last term, Klopp used the Premier League to rotate his side to prepare for Champions League fixtures which impacted on the Solanke's minutes positively.

A 51st minute left-footed finish by midfielder N'Golo Kante was enough to seal victory for the Stamford Bridge outfit and sees them move five points clear of fifth place Arsenal.

Not content with being the driving force in the engine room of Chelsea's midfield, Kante is making a habit of spotting gaps in opposition defences and proved he is adapting to his more advanced role this season with a worthy match-winning goal.

"The only thing I didn't like is that we didn't kill the match off", added the Italian.

"He is improving, especially in his movement without the ball", Sarri said of Kante.

"I think we played against very unsafe opponents", said Sarri. "If Steve has mentioned that, then it's not a secret he's a target of ours and he is someone we would like to have", Hodgson said.

Palace are badly in need of attacking firepower, having scored just 17 goals in 20 Premier League games this season.

The former England boss added: "He's someone with the profile we're looking for, and the ability we are looking for".
