The 27-year-old was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate this season but was waived after criticizing Redskins defensive coordinator Greg Manusky following their loss Saturday to the Tennessee Titans. I wish it would have never happened, really, to be honest with you because I like D.J. and I like what he brought to this football team in his energy, passion and competitiveness.

Swearinger announced his return through an Instagram post.

On Sunday, Gruden said he was "quite disappointed" in the safety's comments on Saturday night and said he would evaluate those comments before rendering final judgement.

"I'm peaceful about it", Swearinger told the radio station. "I probably watch more film than the coaches". I try to give my insight, but it doesn't work. I put my heart in this game. "I feel like on the third down and 6, third down and 7, we're playing a backup quarterback, why would you put us in man-to-man?" "I think we made it pretty clear we keep our business within these walls, and we've had talks before about that, and unfortunately he chose to go to the media again and talk about some of his displeasure with some of the calls". Sometimes it only takes a player or two to turn things around and the Chiefs could really use someone like Swearinger in their secondary.

"We ain't executing. We ain't getting the job done. That's where the frustration comes in at, when we don't win". However, that didn't stop rumors from surfacing that the team was going to do its homework on the safety to see how he might fit.

The play Swearinger was complaining about came with 6:53 left in the game, and Washington up, 16-12.

Swearinger was a second-round pick by the Houston Texans in the 2013 NFL Draft and has played for the Texans, Tampa Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals and Redskins during his career.

Swearinger has four interceptions, three forced fumbles and a sack in 15 games this season.
