Shutdown looms as Trump weighs next move on border wall

It has been quite a week for Rep. Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco.

Impeachment has now become a serious possibility with Democrats taking over the House.

Yet there is a priceless benefit born of the Democratic shake up and subsequent detente: The new and improved title, once ceremoniously called the assistant majority leader, will now be the loftier, more optically impressive assistant speaker of the house. Pelosi also said. "I know he doesn't believe in government, and I know he doesn't know that much about what's at risk if he shuts it down". "The most unsafe place to be in Washington is between Pelosi and an undecided vote". I'm concerned about those young people in the Congressional Black Caucus and whether or not these modifications will have an adverse impact on them ... The timing of the Democrats couldn't be worse for them, as the Daily Mail reports a quote from one of the caravan leaders, "Give us $50,000 each to go home". "He's going to get fact-checked to his face", said Sen.

Trump said on Tuesday he would be proud to shut down the federal government if Democrats don't agree to fund border security, namely his proposed wall. She's got a lot of tools to play, and she's playing them.

Nancy Pelosi is a 78-year-old mother of five and grandmother of eight. "She had a great week".

More recently, Trump again demanded support for the wall, and accused Democrats of enabling criminals and drug dealers, as a caravan of thousands of Central American migrants bore down on the U.S. border this fall.

More than 60 percent of the 235 Democrats taking the oath on January 3 have no experience from Pelosi's first run as speaker. Second, some Republicans worry that it might not even pass the House, because there are plenty of House moderates who lost in November who might now be all that inclined to help Trump out here, since he's why they lost. She tweeted, "Voters won't forget it".

He voted for a rival candidate for House Democratic leadership in 2016 and has continued to oppose her even after Democrats regained control in a November election that saw their biggest increase in House seats since the 1970s.

"I'm not for term limits", the No. 2 Democrat, Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., told reporters.

But Thursday, the speaker-in-waiting capped off the week-that-was by recapping what had just happened - in case anyone missed the social media memes of Pelosi in that coat, exiting the White House.

President Trump has fought for border security funding during his two years in office.

"Perhaps he doesn't understand people need their paychecks".

She all but eye-rolled at his insistence that Mexico would pay for it.

What this really means is that Republicans are basically imploring Trump to take the money that's now being offered to him, and find some way of claiming victory.

If the president commits impeachable offenses, Congress has a responsibility to hold him accountable for his actions.

Trump says money coming in from a new trade agreement means Mexico will effectively be paying for the wall. And so she did.

Asked if she felt the agreement would make her a lame duck, Pelosi says, "What, four years?" Already Republican attendance during the lame-duck session has been spotty, and it's unclear how many votes Ryan will be able to garner in the final days of the GOP's majority in the House. This is retroactive, meaning that Pelosi can only serve through 2022.

Cole sees many similarities between the Democratic class of 2018 and the Republican class of 2010.

Trump "wants to score a made-for-reality-TV moment and he doesn't care how many hardworking Americans will suffer for it", Leahy said. The election came against the backdrop of a #MeToo reckoning of women and men in power.

Rep. Kathleen Rice of NY, another rebel, still plans to vote against Pelosi in January, as do at least a handful of incoming freshmen who campaigned against the Democratic leader this year.

"Nancy showed her value", said Rep.
