Manchester City and Juventus have been reportedly monitoring him as well.

De Telegraaf newspaper claimed PSG had practically signed the player for 70m, however, although the Ajax player is in the process of arriving at the Parc des Princes, the Parisien's are clear that it won't be for that amount.

"Frenkie is guaranteed to stay with Ajax until the summer and I cannot say anything about it".

De Ligt is not the only huge prospect at Ajax - defensive midfielder Frenkie De Jong has been courted by numerous biggest clubs in Europe.

"The rumours appeared again today and I'm sure it will stay like this for a while, but I think we're handling it well".

Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be leading the chase for the 21-year-old's signature, with a deal worth €75m (£67m/$85m) with Manchester City and Barcelona also in the mix.

De Jong is the latest Ajax youth product to garner attention from across Europe after impressing since making his first-team debut in 2016.

PSG do not intend to pay €75 million for De Jong, and although they do hold an interest in the Dutchman, Le Parisien is adamant that there is no deal whatsoever.

And de Jong has admitted he himself is an admirer of Guardiola's passing-based style of football.

On praise for him from PSG forward Kylian Mbappe, he said: "It makes me happy to hear what Mbappe said about me". Despite this, it says the transfer, which will surpass Davinson Sanchez's £42m move from Ajax to Spurs to become the biggest in Eredivisie history, is now "expected" to happen.

"Honestly, he is very welcome in Paris!"

"I just had a chat with Frankie and he's speaking French already".
