'2.0' earns over Rs 150 crore in just two days

Mumbai: Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is on a winning streak at the box office. The film, which opened at a whopping Rs 64 crore (all languages) continues to remain strong during the weekend.

While "2.0" has become the highest grossing Tamil film ever, it is far behind "Baahubali 2" that grossed ₹385 crore in opening weekend collections, the highest for any Indian movie.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to share the Box Office figures.

Out of the ₹74 crore, the Hindi version of 2.0 contributed about ₹21 crore, while collections from Tamil Nadu stood at ₹20 crore. Growth on Day 3 [vis-à-vis Day 2]: 23.46%...

There is no stopping Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's movie 2.0 at the box office, whether it be in India or overseas. Thursday 20.25 cr, Friday 18 cr, Sat 25 cr. The movie had surpassed Telugu film Rangasthalam and now is in fourth position among the 2018's highest-grossing South Indian releases at the United States box office.

The movie has been produced in a budget of more than Rs 500 crore by Lyca Productions and is directed by Shankar. It was also reported that director Shankar had approached Arnold Schwarzenegger for the role of the antagonist in the film but things did not seem to have worked out between them. The Hindi version of the movie contributed 30 per cent of the total bookings. Approx Rs 543 crore has been invested in making the movie.

It has beaten #Sarkar 's ₹ 2.37 Crs set on #Diwali day. Academy award winning music maestro AR Rahman has composed music for the film. In 2.0, Chitti is brought back to life by Dr Vaseegaran to fight Pakshirajan, played by Akshay Kumar.
