Maurizio Sarri has ruled out the possibility of altering the roles of N'Golo Kante and Jorginho, despite criticism of his tactics after Chelsea's defeat at Tottenham.

Kante emerged as a leading deep-lying midfielder in recent seasons, winning back-to-back Premier League titles with Leicester City and Chelsea.

'I want my centre midfielder to be a very technical player, ' Sarri said.

The 27-year-old has been encouraged to become more involved in Chelsea's attack but only has a goal and an assist to his name from 13 Premier League appearances.

Sarri was critical of Kante's display against Tottenham, saying he "lost his position" and "wanted to solve the match. but in the wrong way".

As much as it's painful that Chelsea lost their unbeaten run in a terrible manner, Sarri's men are still title contenders for some reasons. First of all, our target is to be in the first four positions because we want to play in the Champions League, and the Premier League is not very easy to be in the first four.

But Sarri explained there is a time and place for Kante to attack.

Apart from being the first defeat of the season, this was also the first time during the campaign that Maurizio Sarri's team have looked so dysfunctional and disjointed.

MF Cesc Fabregas, 9 - He may not have the metronomic energy of Jorginho these days but Fabregas has a surgically precise right foot, and his wonderful passing range destroyed PAOK once they were reduced to 10 men.

"Obviously, if I want to come back, I need to be efficient and show the manager I am ready", said Giroud before the game.

"He has to work and he is very good in the one on one, but he has to move without the ball".

Sarri said: "I am anxious because 25 days ago he had a back injury".

While the Italian global plays an extremely vital role as the pivot in Sarri's offensive phase, Jorginho does not have the necessary defensive qualities to sufficiently provide cover for the Chelsea back four.

"But I don't think we have to look ahead". So it's normal he wouldn't be top of his physical condition. In Italy, if I play in Greece on Thursday I can ask to play on Monday night, but I have to play again in 63 hours.
