Woman fatally shot at Florida Walmart after domestic altercation, cops say

Ocala police are working on contacting next of kin, the post stated.

Police said David Johnson, 54, shot Carli Cronin, 30, around 2.30 pm at the Walmart at 4980 East Silver Springs Boulevard.

He said the victim and the gunman dated for about nine months but were now apart.

Ocala police have not yet released the name of the victim or the suspected gunman, but say that no one else was hurt in the shooting.

Ocala police said this is the 12th domestic violence homicide in the county this year.

A man who identified himself as the shooting suspect's brother, told the Star-Banner that his brother was turning his life around, adding that "he's not this monster, but a man with a broken heart".


Police say a Walmart employee attempted to intervene in the dispute and called 911.

The woman was taken to a local hospital.

Ballard said the two individuals had been arguing all day and that he and the victim had gone to Walmart to purchase items for their apartment.

Authorities say Cronin was shot multiple times.

They say he then returned to at their home on NE 35th Street, just a few miles away before shooting himself. Johnson wanted to get back together, but she did not, Ballard said.

Investigators have not released the woman's identity because they have not yet notified her family of her death. He has not died of his injuries at the time this article was publish, and is being treated for his injuries at an Ocala hospital.
