"We got out. We are safe", she wrote.

Lady Gaga, Martin Sheen and Kim Kardashian West were among the celebrities who joined thousands of others in evacuating from the affluent coastal city that is as well-known as its residents.

The celebrity website TMZ reported that Jenner's home was burned, but the Olympic gold medalist said in an Instagram video that she didn't know "whether the house made it or not". "Saying prayers and thanking all of the courageous firefighters who risk their lives for us", she wrote.

"Pray for Calabasas. Just landed and got home, as I had an hour to gather all belongings and immediately leave the house".

Kardashian West earlier revealed the flames had stopped near her home in the Hidden Hills, north west of Los Angeles. "I pray everyone is safe".

Denise Richards captured a similarly scary view of Malibu, sharing on Instagram, "We love our community #malibu so devastating... taking us hours to evacuate". Here's to hoping everyone stays safe. But in the next update, she wrote, "Pray for Calabasas. Thank you all for your concern", she wrote.

Cher, who said she had lived in Malibu since 1972, tweeted that the wildfire was coming close to her home, although she said she was not on the property.

"I think when social media first started becoming so relevant to this generation, the person who taught me a thing or two about it was Kim", Kris smiled in an interview with Glamour U.K. "Kim really helped me understand how it can be used in a really positive way and have some fun with it".

Kim was flying into the Los Angeles area when she saw the wildfires from her plane window.

On Saturday morning, Payne said his home was also in the fire's path.

Khloe Kardashian was watching the fire coverage with her brother and praying for her family and friends: "I am with Rob, (his daughter) Dream and (her daughter) True and I am up keeping watch!" she tweeted.

Ms. Kardashian West, a reality television personality who recently visited President Trump at the White House, said on Instagram that she safely evacuated her Los Angeles County home on Thursday evening as the wildfires approached.

Many others have been impacted by the fires.

A blaze broke out in the Hill Canyon area in the south of the state on Thursday and spread quickly, jumping a major highway and scorching up to 7,000 acres of land, the Ventura County Fire Department said.

The Malibu area is also home to dozens of filming locations.

Actor Rainn Wilson, known for starring in the USA version of The Office, shared a picture on Twitter of a plume of smoke in the distance, beyond some hills.
