When Sadio Mane crossed after 62 minutes, Bernd Leno was under no immediate pressure, but he seemed to be caught a little flat-footed and ended up stretching, flapping the ball into Rob Holding, from where it rebounded to James Milner.

"We are giving extra intensity and you can see the manager demands a lot not just in games but on the training pitch and it is paying off", said midfielder Alex Iwobi. But by nearly every other measure this was a totally different player to the midfielder who so regularly disappointed in the biggest games under Arsène Wenger.

"I am more focused on the games, things like contracts I leave with my agent", Mane told theLiverpool Echo.

Goalscorer Alexandre Lacazette said Arsenal had belief in themselves to compete with table-topping Liverpool after they battled back to secure a 1-1 draw in the English Premier League on Saturday. "The best way is to do it right from the first moment and then you can build on that, but we didn't do it right from the first moment".

Although Arsenal have drawn their last two league games, they are just four points behind Liverpool, who are seen by many as title contenders this season. "Now we need to try to do even better".

The Express reports that Bayern have now joined the race and are among the favourites for his signature as they look to bring the 27-year-old to the Bundesliga.

Arsenal began the game on top but it was Liverpool that had the ball in the back of the net on 18 minutes.

Mane also refused to criticise the officials after he had a goal disallowed for offside during the first half at the Emirates Stadium.

We know that we can still do better and the League is very tough - you have to fight for every game.

"Matteo came over from France in the summer and we spend a lot of time with him".

The team is largely the same as a year ago, with only goalkeeper Bernd Leno and midfielder Lucas Torreira starting this game, having arrived in the summer.

"It's nice because he is happy to learn and we always have fun together".
