Oprah Winfrey Campaigns for Gubernatorial Candidate Stacey Abrams in Georgia

Both campaigns are bringing in the "big guns" (as one Peach State politico put it) in the final days of the campaign-Oprah Winfrey and Mike Pence are in Georgia Thursday to campaign for Abrams and Kemp, respectively. "I came for myself, and I approve this message".

"If she was a Republican and she was running against Trump in the primary, I'd have a tough decision to make", Watters quipped.

He speculated that Winfrey may feel a little "guilty" after she "sat on the sidelines" in 2016 and did not do much to help Hillary Clinton.

To applause and laughter, the media titan continued that she was "not trying to test any waters". After Thursday's dueling outsiders, former president Barack Obama will follow on Friday for Abrams. "I'm here today because of Stacey Abrams".

"She is not qualified to be governor of Georgia", he repeated. Winfrey said. "I am here today because of Stacey Abrams".

"Sending their support into the state, and some of them come into the state", he said. That's exactly where the polls and observers in Georgia see things going for Kemp and Abrams.

Winfrey blasted attacks on Abrams that she says she saw in her hotel room - Republican ads casts Abrams as "too extreme" and "radical" for Georgia - as "noise" that is "designed to confound you with fear".

Vice President Mike Pence mocked the Hollywood liberals who were campaigning for the Democratic candidate in the Georgia gubernatorial race.

And in a nod to the allegations of voter suppression that have marked the gubernatorial race, Winfrey told the crowd that "every single one of us has something that, if done in numbers too big to tamper with, can not be suppressed and can not be denied".

Abrams is looking to maximize turnout among nonwhites, liberal urban whites and just enough whites everywhere else, including a smattering of moderates and suburban Republicans who are disenchanted with Trump - a considerable overlap with the fan base that propelled Winfrey to her billionaire icon status.
