President Trump's varied reactions to the mail bombs sent to multiple political figures fits into a pattern of shifting blame and casting doubt on the facts when confronted with a politically harmful story. They turned up in several locations in New York, Maryland, Florida, Delaware, and California, he said. "It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description".

President Donald Trump has claimed much of the "Anger" in society is "caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the Mainstream Media".

The packaging was addressed care of CNN to former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan, who has appeared on the channel as a guest and is perhaps Trump's toughest critic from the national security community.

"Stop blaming others. Look in the mirror", Mr Brennan tweeted.

"Your inflammatory rhetoric, insults, lies, (and) encouragement of physical violence are disgraceful", Brennan wrote on Twitter to the President.

The politics belied the life-and-death nature of the growing list of bombing targets in New York, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Florida and California.

Former US vice president Joe Biden and Hollywood megastar Robert De Niro were the latest targets Thursday of a spree of suspicious packages and pipe bombs sent to opponents of Donald Trump as the US president lashed out at the media for stirring up "anger". De Niro had also apologized to Canadians for the "idiotic behavior of my president". Biden said last week that the president may not "know what he's doing" and coddles dictators.

Similar packages addressed to Clinton and Obama were intercepted on their way to Clinton's NY home where she lives with former President Bill Clinton and to Washington, where Obama lives with his wife, Michelle.

The investigation into a wave of homemade pipe bombs addressed to political enemies of President Trump expanded Thursday with the discovery of more suspicious packages in NY and Delaware.

The first crude bomb to be discovered was delivered Monday to the suburban NY compound of George Soros, a liberal billionaire and major contributor to Democratic causes.

The president revoked Brennan's security clearance after the ex-CIA chief, a veteran intelligence official in Democratic and Republican administrations, lambasted Trump's Russian Federation summit performance as "nothing short of treasonous".

The packages were sent in manila envelopes with bubble wrap, marked with computer-printed address labels. When the package to Holder could not be delivered, it was sent to the congresswoman's Florida office, a law enforcement official said.

The package to Holder ended up at the offices of Florida Rep. CNN anchors, speaking live from cellphones outside their bureau at the Time Warner Center, described the evacuation of the Midtown Manhattan landmark that disrupted traffic and drew the NYPD's bomb squad.

The bombs seized Wednesday, each with a small battery, were about six inches long and packed with powder and broken glass, said a law enforcement official who viewed X-ray images and spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

All the suspicious packages were believed to have gone through the U.S. Postal System at some point, the source said. The devices were being examined by technicians at the FBI's forensic lab in Quantico, Virginia. Officials provided no details on a possible suspect or motive.

Later at a rally in Wisconsin, he urged unity.

On Thursday, during a campaign trip to suburban Buffalo, Biden said: "We've got to get off this hate machine".

"If we don't stop this political mania, this fervor, rancor, hatred, you'll see this again and again and again", New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told MSNBC. "Have you ever seen this?"

The attacks overtook other news in an already-tense political season that could reshape Congress and serve as a referendum on the first two years of Mr Trump's presidency.

We have to come together and send one very clear, strong, unmistakable message that acts or threats of political violence of any kind have no place in the United States of America. "This egregious conduct is abhorrent".

O'Neill and other officials were responding to questions about photos that have been circulated of the suspicious devices that led some experts to wonder whether the items pose a real threat or whether they were meant to be a scare. But Democratic Senate and House leaders Chuck Schumer of NY and Nancy Pelosi of California said such words "ring hollow" when coming from Trump.
