Eagles RB Jay Ajayi Tore His ACL, Is Out For The Year

With Jay Ajayi done for the season, the Eagles are in desperate need of running back help.

That would be more than enough to take on McCoy's nearly $9 million cap hit over the next two seasons.

Plans can change, so a trade for Bell shouldn't be ruled out.

The Philadelphia Eagles want that old thing back.

If the Eagles have their way, that's a possibility.

There were reports back in February that stated the Eagles inquired with the Bills in 2017 about trading for McCoy before landing Ajayi in a trade with the Miami Dolphins. So if he's not the primary trade target for the Eagles now, he's a solid fallback option if Bell is genuinely available but is deemed to be more risky overall. Furthermore, Darren Sproles has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury and Corey Clement, who is expected to play this week, missed the last two games with a quad injury. Not only did they lose the NFC Championship rematch at home, but they also lost their starting running back, Jay Ajayi.

Adding either Johnson or Bell would take a serious hit to the Eagles payroll this year and beyond. Players at that position now without a contract include Mike Gillislee, Orleans Darkwa, Terrance West and Christine Michael.

The Eagles have reached out to the Bills about a possible trade for LeSean McCoy, per source.
