Beckham finished with eight catches for 131 yards and a 33-yard touchdown, his first score of the season.

Reid signing came with controversy as the new Panther is still suing the NFL, saying the league colluded to keep him out during offseason free agency. He is focused on putting a winning product on the field, via New York's team website.

Christian McCaffrey picked up the first down (barely), but the Panthers had to waste precious clock.

- As the national anthem played, every player on the Carolina Panthers sideline could be seen standing, except one. And I texted him and I asked if I could have a minute just to talk to the team because I feel like if we're not all on the same page, if it's not authentic and real and we can all understand each other then there's always going to be miscommunication.

It was a game of two acts for the Carolina Panthers, who played spectacularly in the first half and abysmal in the second, with the exception of special teams, which remained superb all the way through. There is hope: Eli Manning has been accurate for 74 percent completions, four TDs and just one pick-but he has ben sacked 15 times already for a total loss of 126 (!) yards.

Will Saquon Barkley finally get 20 carries in a game? In the third game last season, Jake Elliott of the Eagles kicked a 61-yarder for a 27-24 win. It's the zone read. Carolina's pass-rush should've popped.

At the quarter mark of the season, the Giants rank 25th in offense and 11th in defense in terms of yards.

Earlier this week, Bettcher spoke about Newton and the problems he presents with his running ability. Shurmur isn't panicking ahead of Sunday's tilt in Carolina.

Gano's previous career long was 59 yards. But given that offensive coordinator Norv Turner is known to mix things up from week to week, it wouldn't be a shocker if Turner leans a little more heavily on backup running back C.J. Anderson this week.
