United are nine points off the title pace just seven games into the season, and to outside eyes at least Mourinho seems to have compounded their worst start for 29 years by conducting public feuds with his players.

As Manchester United's domestic season threatens to go off the rails, manager Jose Mourinho doesn't believe his whole squad is showing an adequate amount of concern.

However, ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash against Valencia, Mourinho claimed the poor form is down to certain players 'not caring'.

United are top of Group H after beating Young Boys in their opening match but have not won any of their three matches since in all competitions.

Asked if he had spoken to the club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward following Saturday's loss, Mourinho gave a tetchy reply.

"That's a private matter", Mourinho added.

"What Mourinho is asked is not relevant to me. I'm not going to answer it", he said. It was another lackluster showing from Jose Mourinho's squad, and certainly one that will turn up the pressure, but not almost as much as it would have been had the team lost. I like that perspective but I don't agree totally.

The style of play at United has come under heavy criticism of late and there is now genuine signs that the fans are starting to turn away from their beloved club as a result. I have a role to play, everyone has a role to play.

Marcelino's side face United at Old Trafford on Tuesday and is readying his team for a battle, having highlighted the physical prowess the Premier League side have.

Nemanja Matic said the time for dressing-room talk was over at Manchester United as he called for the team's leaders to show themselves on the pitch against Valencia.

"Everyone has a responsibility", he said. "When you don't win two games in a row, there is more attention on you - we know that". Everyone is trying to do more for the team. So we are here and we have the chance to play a big match.
